I came to the United States as a refugee in 2024, hoping to build a beautiful and bright future for my family. However,
life did not turn out the way I expected. I experienced domestic violence, and my husband left me alone with six children while I was pregnant.
Catholic Charities Fort Worth welcomed me and my family with open arms. They resettled us and provided every kind
of support we needed: financial help, emotional support, and essential items such as food, clothing, hygiene supplies,
and household goods. They also helped me find employment, and I began working at Walmart. For a time, things were improving. I was working, paying my bills, and caring for my children.
Then in December, everything changed. I was hospitalized due to complications with my pregnancy and had to deliver my baby prematurely. After surgery, I was unable to return to work. I requested lighter duties, but because no suitable position was available, my employment was terminated. Without income, I could not pay rent or utilities or afford food, hygiene items, clothing, or basic needs for my children. During this extremely difficult period, Catholic Charities Fort Worth continued to stand by my family. They assisted with rent, groceries, diapers, hygiene items, and clothing for my children, ensuring that my family remained stable while I recovered.
My newborn baby is still in the neonatal unit and continues to make progress. I am at home caring for my other six children while healing from surgery and still unable to work. Through all of this, Catholic Charities Fort Worth has been a steady source of hope, support, and compassion for me and my family.
I want to express my deepest gratitude to the donors and staff of Catholic Charities Fort Worth. Your generosity, kindness, and unwavering dedication have carried my family through one of the hardest times of our lives. Your support has ensured that my children have a safe home, that my premature baby receives the care he needs to grow stronger, and that I can continue healing while caring for my family.
You have given us stability, dignity, and hope when we needed it most. I am deeply grateful for everything you do for
families like mine.
